Starting acupuncture or naturopathic care for the first time can feel like a big unknown — here’s exactly what happens, so there are no surprises.
Before you arrive
Your first visit is a New Patient Visit (60 minutes). You’ll receive a link to fill out your intake form online ahead of time, so we can dive straight into your visit rather than spend part of it on paperwork. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing if possible — acupuncture often involves access to the arms, legs, and back. There’s no need to be fasted or to prepare anything special beforehand.
During your visit
We’ll start with a thorough conversation about your health history, your main concern, and your goals — this is naturopathic medicine, so I’m looking at the whole picture, not just the symptom in front of us. Depending on what we uncover, your visit may include acupuncture, herbal or nutritional recommendations, or a discussion of functional lab testing if that’s relevant to your case. There’s no single “standard” treatment — your first visit is built around you.
After your visit
Most people leave with a clear next step, whether that’s a return visit, a few simple changes to try at home, or lab work to complete before we meet again. Return visits are shorter (60 minutes for acupuncture, or 25 minutes for an online follow-up) since we’re building on the groundwork from your first session.
Prefer to start online?
If getting to Stockholm isn’t practical, your first visit can also be done as an online consultation — same thorough intake, adapted to what’s possible remotely (nutrition, herbs, lifestyle, and lab test interpretation all translate well to video; acupuncture obviously doesn’t).
